Jos de Blok, a trained nurse, is the founder of Dutch organisation Buurtzorg (Dutch for ‘neighbourhood care’), where he pioneers new ways of delivering home-based healthcare. His model is community-based and people-centred – for both the service users and employees. It frees staff from administrative burdens, allowing them to focus on the business of providing quality, personalised and relatively low-cost care. The company has been declared ‘employer of the year’ numerous times in the Netherlands and has recently launched in Sweden, US, Belgium, Japan, China, Czech Republic, South Korea, Scotland and England.
At the conference:
Jos de Blok will introduce us to this innovative model of neighbourhood care, one in which the innovation is about providing human-centred care by simplifying traditional management and administrative processes.
