Venues and Travel
On Tuesday 27th June in particular, we strongly advise those of you needing to travel to the conference venue from Floriana and Valletta to come by foot which is only a short distance away. If you are staying in Sliema, we advise you to use the frequent ferry shuttle which stops next to the conference venue.
City of Valletta
Malta’s capital city is the administrative and commercial heart of the island, busy by day and atmospheric by night, with the feeling of going back in time. Listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site because of its historical value, Valletta charms with its stunning architecture on every corner.
Built on a small peninsula, it is packed full of sights and when Unesco named the town a World Heritage Site, it described it as 'one of the most concentrated historic areas in the world'. But Valletta has a lot more to offer, it is a living city and a major tourist attraction which we hope you will enjoy discovering.
THE CONFERENCE VENUE
The 25th European Social Service Conference will be held at the Grand Hotel Excelsior, located on the doorstep of the Capital City of Valletta. Its central position allows for easy travel to all Valletta’s major attractions, art treasures, and historical architectural gems.

To celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Conference, two special evening events have been arranged for the conference delegates. Malta has a rich and fascinating history and those events will be a great opportunity to step back in time and discover more about the island.
The Gala Dinner will be a great occasion to exchange with peers in a relaxed atmosphere.
